Texas Instruments 8-Bit Shift Register SOIC-16

Texas Instruments 8-Bit Shift Register SOIC-16 is a high-performance, serial-in, parallel-out 8-bit shift register with 3-state output registers, supplied in a compact SOIC-16 surface-mount package.

Overview

The device incorporates an 8-bit serial-in, parallel-out shift register that feeds an 8-bit D-type storage register, providing flexible data handling. The storage register features parallel 3-state outputs, allowing for direct bus interfacing. Separate clock inputs are provided for the shift and storage registers, enabling precise control over data latching and shifting operations.

Key Features

• Direct overriding clear (SRCLR) input that resets the shift register
• Serial (SER) input and serial outputs for cascading multiple devices and expanding output ports
• Output-enable (OE) input which, when held high, places all outputs in a high-impedance state to prevent bus contention
• 3-state outputs capable of driving up to 15 Low-Power Schottky (LSTTL) loads
• Output drive of ±6mA at 5V
• Typical propagation delay (TPD) of 13ns
• Wide operating voltage range from 2V to 6V
• Low power consumption for efficient operation
• Green product manufactured with no antimony or bromine (Sb/Br)

Package and Operating Conditions

The IC is supplied in a compact SOIC-16 surface-mount package, ideal for space-constrained PCB designs. It operates across an industrial temperature range from -40°C to +85°C, suitable for demanding environments.

Handling

Due to its MOS technology, care must be taken during handling as the device has limited built-in ESD protection. Leads should be shorted together or the device stored in conductive foam to prevent electrostatic damage.

Choose the Texas Instruments 8-Bit Shift Register SOIC-16 when you need a compact 8-bit serial-to-parallel shift register with 3-state outputs for expanding output ports on a PCB.
