The Texas Instruments Adjustable Positive Voltage Regulator is a highly versatile 3-terminal device capable of supplying up to 100mA over an adjustable output range of 1.2V to 37V. Designed for ease of use, this regulator requires only two external resistors to set the desired output voltage, eliminating the need to stock a wide variety of fixed-voltage regulators.
Offering superior performance compared to standard fixed regulators, the device provides excellent line and load regulation, typically 0.01% and 0.1% respectively. It features comprehensive overload protection, including current limit, thermal overload protection, and safe area protection. Crucially, all overload protection circuitry remains fully functional even if the adjustment terminal is disconnected. The output is also short-circuit protected for enhanced reliability.
For standard operation, no capacitors are required unless the device is situated more than 6 inches (approximately 150mm) from the input filter capacitors, in which case an input bypass is necessary. An optional output capacitor can be added to improve transient response, and the adjustment terminal can be bypassed to achieve exceptionally high ripple rejection ratios. This product is also classified as a green product, containing no antimony (Sb) or bromine (Br).
