The Texas Instruments Current Sense Amplifier is a highly accurate current shunt and power monitor equipped with an I²C™ or SMBUS-compatible interface. Designed to monitor both a shunt voltage drop and bus supply voltage, this device features a programmable calibration value, conversion times, and averaging options. Combined with an internal multiplier, it enables direct readouts of current in amperes and power in watts.
This versatile amplifier senses current on common-mode bus voltages that can vary from 0 to 36V, entirely independent of the supply voltage. Operating from a single 2.7V to 5.5V supply, it draws a typical supply current of 330µA. Specified over an operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C, it supports up to 16 programmable addresses on the I²C-compatible interface.
