The TT Electronics / Welwyn PCF Series SMD Chip Resistor is a precision thin film nichrome chip resistor engineered for high-performance applications. It features a thin-film material selectively deposited on a 96% alumina substrate, complete with metallic contacts at each end. The unadjusted resistors undergo a meticulous heat treatment to deliver the required temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) and stability, followed by a precisely controlled laser trim process to set the exact resistance value.

Epoxy protection is applied to the component, and wrap-around terminations are added, plated with nickel and then tin. The PCF resistor is ideally suited for handling by automatic methods owing to its rectangular shape and small dimensional tolerances. Electrical connection to a ceramic substrate or printed circuit board can be reliably made by reflow or wave soldering of the wrap-around terminations.
