VISHAY 22000µF 100V Screw Electrolytic Capacitor

The VISHAY 101 PHR-ST Series screw-type aluminium electrolytic capacitor is engineered for demanding power management applications. It offers a high capacitance of 22000µF paired with a 100V DC rating, making it an excellent choice for smoothing and buffering in power supplies. Designed with a non-solid electrolyte and a pressure relief seal, this component is built for high ripple current handling and a long operational life of 15000 hours at 85°C.

Its construction features an electrochemically etched aluminium anode foil, with an oxide layer forming the dielectric. A paper spacer impregnated with fluid electrolyte acts as the second plate, all housed within a robust cylindrical case insulated with a blue sleeve. This design yields a high capacitance-to-cost ratio, compact size, and robust performance, including a low ESR of 0.011ohm and a ripple current rating of 14.8A.

Key Functions & Applications

This capacitor is a versatile solution for both input and output buffering in power systems. As an input buffer, it provides energy backup during low mains voltage conditions, stores energy during power level transitions managed by AC/DC converters (such as PFC controllers), and filters out high-frequency switching noise from the DC/DC converter. As an output buffer, it acts as a current sink for inductor current-to-voltage conversion and provides energy storage to support the DC/DC converter during changes in power demand.
