The VISHAY Safety Capacitor is an interference suppression film capacitor featuring a polypropylene film dielectric and metallised film electrodes. Designed with tinned wire leads and a series construction, this radial box component assists in energy conversion while providing low losses and high efficiency.
As a Y2 capacitor, it provides safety on pulse up to 5kV in line bypass applications. The capacitor is constructed with two electrodes and a plastic dielectric material in between. In metallised types, a very thin electrode is evaporated onto the plastic dielectric, with a thickness of approximately 10 to 50nm, which allows for self-healing properties and a compact size.
The capacitor cells are protected to withstand severe environmental conditions and passive flammability. It features a UL94V-0 flame-retardant epoxy resin sealed plastic case encapsulation. With a rated AC voltage of 310VAC at 50 to 60Hz and a Voltage Rating Y of 300VAC, this component is built for reliable performance. It operates effectively in temperatures ranging from -55°C to 105°C and has a dv/dt rating of 200V/µs.
