The Texas Instruments SN74HC377N is a high-speed, low-power octal D-type flip-flop with a clock-enable function. Constructed in a 20-pin PDIP (Plastic Dual In-line Package), it is designed for reliable performance in a wide range of digital logic applications.
This device features eight positive-edge-triggered flip-flops with single-rail outputs. A key characteristic is its latched clock-enable (CLKEN\) input, which is engineered to prevent false clocking by transitions, ensuring data integrity. Information at the data (D) inputs is transferred to the Q outputs on the positive-going edge of the clock pulse, but only when CLKEN\ is held low. Clock triggering occurs at a specific voltage level, not directly related to the transition time of the pulse, offering stable operation.
The SN74HC377N is optimised for low power consumption, with a maximum rating of just 80µA. It delivers fast performance with a typical propagation delay (tpd) of 12ns and can operate at frequencies up to 23MHz. The outputs are robust, capable of driving up to 10 LSTTL loads and providing an output drive of ±4mA at 5V. With a very low maximum input current of 1µA, it is highly efficient.
