The TXS0104EPWR from Texas Instruments is a 4-bit bidirectional voltage-level shifter designed for open-drain and push-pull applications. This non-inverting translator uses two separate configurable power-supply rails, allowing the A port to track VCCA from 1.65V to 3.6V and the B port to track VCCB from 2.3V to 5.5V. With VCCA required to be less than or equal to VCCB, it enables universal low-voltage bidirectional translation between 1.2V, 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V, and 5V voltage nodes, making it highly versatile for mixed-voltage systems.
The device features no direction-control signal needed, simplifying design and reducing external components. It supports maximum data rates of 24Mbps for push-pull and 2Mbps for open-drain applications, ensuring high-speed performance. The output-enable (OE) input, supplied by VCCA, places all outputs in a high-impedance state when low, and it is recommended to tie OE to GND through a pull-down resistor to ensure proper power-up and power-down behaviour.
The TXS0104EPWR also offers robust protection: latch-up performance exceeding 100mA per JESD 78 class II, and it is a green product with no Sb/Br. No power-supply sequencing is required, as either VCCA or VCCB can be ramped first, offering flexibility and ease of integration.
