The 4TRONIX Picon Zero is an intelligent robotics controller designed specifically for Raspberry Pi-based mobile robots. Featuring a built-in processor, it handles all direct communication with your input and output devices, freeing up your Raspberry Pi to focus on the overall control program.
This controller supports all models of Raspberry Pi with a 40-pin connector, including the Zero, Model A+/B+, and Pi 2 or 3 Model B. Programming is fully supported through an extensive Python library, making it ideal for use with the Raspberry Pi Zero. It utilises an I2C interface, leaving all GPIO pins free for your own custom use.
The Picon Zero is equipped with 2 full H-bridge motor drivers, offering full forward/reverse and speed control with up to 1.5A continuous per channel (2A peak). It also features 6 general purpose output channels (5V) configurable as Digital, PWM, Servo, or WS2812 (NeoPixels), alongside 4 general purpose inputs (5V) that can be set as Digital, Analogue, or DS18B20 (digital temperature sensor). All inputs and outputs use standard 3-pin GVS connectors (Ground, Volts, Signal), allowing 3-pin sensors and servos to plug straight in.
A dedicated socket is included for the HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor, allowing it to plug directly in or connect via jumper wires. Additionally, 5 GPIO signals, 5V, 3V, and Ground are brought out to a header. Power for outputs can be sourced from the Raspberry Pi's 5V or an external USB input, whilst motor power can be drawn from internal/external 5V or a separate 3V to 11V power source. Both motor terminals feature 2-pin screw connectors and 2-pin male headers for maximum connection flexibility. The controller board is supplied fully assembled, requiring no soldering.
