The Broadcom ACPL-C870-000E is a precision optically isolated voltage sensor and amplifier, engineered to deliver accurate and stable voltage measurements in electrically noisy environments. Housed in a compact 8-pin SSO (SOIC) package, this device is specifically designed for isolated voltage sensing in demanding applications like electronic power converters. Its high 1GΩ input impedance and nominal input range of 0V to 2V make it ideal for monitoring DC link voltages through a simple resistive divider.
Utilising advanced sigma-delta (Σ-Δ) modulation technology, the amplifier ensures excellent signal integrity across the optical isolation barrier. It provides a differential output voltage that is precisely proportional to the input voltage, with a maximum non-linearity of just 0.1%. The device operates from a single 5V supply on the input side and offers a wide supply range of 3V to 5.5V for the output side, accommodating various system designs.
A key feature for power-sensitive applications is the active high shutdown pin, which reduces the supply current (IDD1) to a mere 15µA, making it exceptionally suitable for battery-powered systems. Furthermore, it boasts an impressive common-mode transient immunity of 15kV/µs, ensuring precision and stability even in high-noise industrial settings.
