The BROADCOM ACPL-C87A-000E is a precision, optically isolated voltage sensor and amplifier designed for accurate voltage sensing in demanding electronic power systems. Its 2V input range coupled with an exceptionally high 1GΩ input impedance makes it ideally suited for isolated voltage sensing in high-voltage applications, including motor drives and renewable energy inverters. The device provides a reliable interface for monitoring DC-link voltage by translating a scaled input voltage into a proportional differential output across a robust optical isolation barrier.
A key feature is its outstanding 15kV/µs common-mode transient immunity, ensuring precision and stability even in electrically noisy environments common to industrial power electronics. This performance is achieved through advanced sigma-delta modulation and chopper-stabilised amplifier technology, which minimises errors and drift. The sensor delivers high gain accuracy of 0.5% with a unity gain of 1V/V and maintains excellent temperature stability with a low gain drift of -35ppm/°C.
