Overview

This surface-mount module is designed to enhance the functionality of a fire and life safety system. Its integrated battery backup provides continuous operation during a mains power failure, supporting reliable performance when the mains supply is interrupted.

How It Works

The module integrates with interlinked Kidde smoke, heat, and carbon monoxide alarms. When a connected alarm sounds with the temporal three pattern, which is the standard smoke alarm signal, the module activates its built-in relay. This relay can trigger auxiliary devices to provide a coordinated response, such as an external sounder, a strobe light, or a building management system.

Applications

• Sprinkler systems, where an interconnected sprinkler flow switch activates the module
• Interfacing with manual call points or other devices that provide a volt-free contact closure

When an interconnected sprinkler flow switch is activated, the module receives the signal, sounds the interconnected alarms, and activates its relay. This dual-response capability supports alerting occupants and signalling other systems in the event of a fire.
