The Kitronik Environmental Control Board for BBC micro:bit is a versatile add-on board designed to help you build automated systems that react to environmental changes. It is fully compatible with both the BBC micro:bit V1 and V2, providing a seamless integration for your projects.
This board features an on-board BME 280 sensor that monitors environmental temperature, barometric pressure, and humidity, alongside a separate Real-Time Clock (RTC). It provides a variety of sensor inputs and connection points, allowing you to code the micro:bit to control outputs for external devices such as a water pump, fan, servo, or heater pad. This makes it an ideal foundation for feedback control systems.
Powering the board is flexible; you can use the on-board 3xAA battery holder or the 2.1mm DC jack. Power is conveniently controlled via an on/off switch with an adjacent LED indicator. Additionally, a solar-cell input allows for sustainable powering when used in conjunction with rechargeable batteries.
Compact and feature-packed, this board measures just 43mm x 33mm x 15mm and weighs 40 grams. Please note that the BBC micro:bit is shown for illustration purposes only and is not included. The kit contains the Environmental Control Board.
