The Microchip 8-Bit Flash Microcontroller employs a high-performance, fully-static, Flash-based CMOS design using a RISC architecture. It features only 33 single-word, single-cycle instructions, with program branches taking just two cycles. The 12-bit wide instructions are highly symmetrical, resulting in a typical 2:1 code compression over other 8-bit microcontrollers in its class, which significantly reduces development time.
Equipped with special features to reduce system cost and power requirements, this device includes Power-on Reset (POR) and a Device Reset Timer (DRT) to eliminate the need for external reset circuitry. It operates at a maximum frequency of 4MHz with a 1.5KB program memory and 41Byte RAM. The 8-bit wide data path and baseline core with 2 stack levels provide efficient processing for a variety of embedded applications.
