The Microchip PIC16F884-I/PT is a high-performance 8-bit CMOS Flash-based microcontroller designed for a wide range of embedded control applications. With 7KB of flash program memory and 256 bytes of EEPROM data memory, this device offers ample storage for complex firmware and data logging. The MCU operates at a maximum frequency of 20MHz, providing fast and efficient processing for demanding tasks.
This versatile microcontroller features 14 channels of 10-bit Analogue-to-Digital (A/D) converter, two comparators, and an Enhanced Capture/Compare/PWM (ECCP) module with auto-shutdown and PWM steering. It also includes a synchronous serial port configurable as either 3-wire SPI or 2-wire I²C, plus an Enhanced Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (EUSART) for robust serial communication. The device supports In-Circuit Serial Programming (ICSP) and In-Circuit Debug (ICD) via two pins, simplifying development and field updates.
The PIC16F884 includes essential power management features such as power-saving sleep mode, power-on reset (POR), and an extended watchdog timer (WDT) with its own on-chip RC oscillator for reliable operation. The oscillator start-up timer (OST) and power-up timer (PWRT) ensure stable power-on sequencing. Housed in a compact TQFP44 package with 35 I/O pins, this microcontroller is suitable for space-constrained designs. It operates over a supply voltage range of 2V to 5.5V and a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, making it ideal for demanding environments.
