The Microchip PIC18F452 is a high-performance 8-bit flash microcontroller featuring 8 channels of 10-bit Analogue-to-Digital (A/D) converter. Designed for a C compiler friendly environment, it offers 256 bytes of EEPROM, self-programming capability, and an In-Circuit Debug (ICD) interface. With 2 capture/compare/PWM functions, a synchronous serial port that can be configured as either a 3-wire Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI™) or the 2-wire Inter-Integrated Circuit (I²C™) bus, and an Addressable Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (AUSART), this MCU provides comprehensive connectivity options for diverse applications.

The device is built on a high-performance RISC CPU capable of up to 10 MIPS operation, with 16-bit wide instructions and an 8-bit wide data path. It includes 3 external interrupt pins and a master synchronous serial port (MSSP) module. The analogue features include programmable low voltage detection (PLVD) and programmable brown-out reset (BOR), ensuring reliable performance in varying conditions. The flash/data EEPROM retention exceeds 40 years, and the device is self-reprogrammable under software control. A watchdog timer (WDT) with its own on-chip RC oscillator ensures reliable operation, while programmable code protection and a power saving sleep mode enhance security and efficiency.

Operating on a single 5V supply, it supports In-Circuit Serial Programming™ (ICSP™) via two pins and In-Circuit Debug (ICD) via two pins.
