Microchip USB 2.0 Hub Controller IC 36-Pin QFN 3.3V

Microchip USB 2.0 Hub Controller IC is a power-efficient USB 2.0 hub controller integrated circuit designed for port expansion in a compact 36-pin QFN package with a 3.3V supply. It suits modern electronic designs that need scalable expansion from two to four downstream ports in a small footprint.

Overview

This controller is part of the USB251xB/xBi family and is housed in a space-saving 36-pin QFN package measuring 6x6 mm, which suits space-constrained designs. The device is fully compliant with the USB 2.0 specification and supports data rates up to 480Mbps. It is intended for consumer electronics, mobile devices, and industrial applications.

Key Features

• MultiTRAK: Provides one transaction translator per port to optimise data flow in mixed-speed USB environments.
• PortMap: Offers flexible port mapping and disable sequencing for custom configuration.
• PortSwap: Programmable USB differential-pair pin locations ease PCB design by aligning signal lines.
• PHYBoost: Programmable USB signal drive strength helps maintain signal integrity over varying trace lengths.
• Power Management: Individual or ganged power control of each downstream port, with a single external 3.3V supply source and internal regulators providing a 1.2V core voltage.
• Integrated Design: Integrated USB termination and pull-up/pull-down resistors, an on-board 24MHz crystal driver (also supports ceramic resonators or an external 24/48MHz clock input), and 4kV HBM ESD protection.

Applications

The controller is suited to consumer electronics, mobile devices, and industrial applications where port expansion is needed in a compact design. Its 6x6 mm package supports designs with limited board space.

Choose the Microchip USB 2.0 Hub Controller IC when you need a compact, USB 2.0 compliant hub controller that supports two to four downstream ports with flexible port mapping and signal integrity options.
