SEEED STUDIO Grove DS1307 Real Time Clock (RTC) Module

The SEEED STUDIO Grove DS1307 Real Time Clock (RTC) Module provides accurate timekeeping for your microcontroller projects. Based on the reliable DS1307 clock chip, this compact module communicates via the simple I2C protocol, making it easy to integrate with popular platforms like Arduino and Raspberry Pi. It maintains precise time and calendar functions, counting seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, and year with leap-year compensation valid up to the year 2100.

A key feature is the integrated Lithium cell battery (CR1225) backup, which ensures the clock continues to run even when main power is disconnected. This battery also powers the module's 56-byte, battery-backed NVRAM (Non-Volatile RAM), providing a small but essential space for critical data storage that persists through power cycles. The module operates on a 5V DC supply and includes a programmable square-wave output signal for timing applications.

Engineered for reliability, the module incorporates automatic power-fail detection and switch circuitry, seamlessly transitioning to battery power when needed. It is remarkably power-efficient, consuming less than 500nA in battery-backup mode while the oscillator is still running, ensuring long battery life.
