Adjustable DC-DC buck step-down regulator by STMicroelectronics. 5.5V-48V input, 3A output, HSOP-8 package with thermal shutdown.
This adjustable DC-DC switching buck step-down regulator from STMicroelectronics is engineered to deliver up to 3A of DC current to the load, depending on application conditions. The high current capability is supported by the HSOP-8 package with an exposed frame, which reduces the thermal resistance down to approximately 40°C/W, ensuring efficient heat dissipation during operation.
The device features an internal N-channel DMOS transistor with a typical RDS(on) of 200mΩ, minimising the size of the external components required. An internal oscillator fixes the switching frequency at 850kHz, while the output voltage can be set starting from 1.22V. Safety and reliability are prioritised with a power good open collector output that validates the regulated voltage, alongside a pulse-by-pulse current limit that offers effective constant current short-circuit protection. Current foldback further decreases overstress in persistent short-circuit conditions.
