The STMicroelectronics Micro-Stepping Motor Driver is a fully integrated solution featuring a motion engine and SPI interface. Realised in advanced analogue mixed signal technology, it is designed for driving two-phase bipolar stepper motors with micro-stepping capabilities.
This driver integrates a dual low RDS(ON) DMOS full bridge, with all power switches equipped with accurate on-chip current sensing circuitry. This allows for non-dissipative current control and robust over-current protection. The digital control core can generate user-defined motion profiles, including acceleration, deceleration, speed, or target position, which are easily programmed through a dedicated register set. All commands and data registers, including those setting analogue values, are transmitted via a standard 5 Mbit/s SPI.
