The STMPS2151STR from STMICROELECTRONICS is a robust single-channel, high-side power load switch designed for demanding applications prone to heavy capacitive loads and potential short-circuits. It incorporates a 90mΩ N-channel MOSFET high-side power switch controlled by a logic enable input for efficient power distribution.

A key safety feature is its integrated protection suite. When the output load exceeds the 500mA current limit or a short circuit is detected, the device seamlessly enters a constant-current mode to maintain a safe output level. Should continuous overloads cause excessive power dissipation and a rise in junction temperature, an internal thermal protection circuit automatically shuts the switch off to prevent permanent damage. Recovery is automatic once the device cools sufficiently.

This switch ensures reliable operation with an input voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V, making it compatible with standard 5V and 3.3V logic systems. It includes an undervoltage lockout (UVLO) that keeps the switch off until a valid input voltage is present. The enable input is compatible with both CMOS and TTL logic levels, offering design flexibility. Additional protections include 8KV HBM ESD protection and reverse current blocking.

With an exceptionally low maximum standby current of just 12µA, it is ideal for power-sensitive and battery-operated devices. The device is housed in a compact, surface-mount 5-pin SOT-23 package, suitable for space-constrained PCB designs. It operates reliably across an ambient temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, ensuring performance in harsh environments.
