Engineered for efficiency, this transceiver draws a minimal 300µA of supply current (typical) whether unloaded or fully loaded with disabled drivers, making it an excellent choice for power-sensitive systems. For enhanced system protection, the driver features short-circuit current limiting and is safeguarded by thermal shutdown circuitry. In the event of excessive power dissipation, this protection places the driver outputs into a safe, high-impedance state, preventing damage.
The device supports the connection of up to 64 transceivers on a single bus and ensures bus integrity by maintaining a high-impedance state in three-state mode or when power is off, preventing unwanted loading. Key performance characteristics include a typical input hysteresis of 70mV for improved noise immunity, a swift 30ns propagation delay, and a minimal 5ns skew for precise data timing.
Housed in a compact 8-pin SOIC package, the ST485BDR offers a maximum data rate of 2.5Mbps and operates from a 4.75V to 5.25V supply, ensuring compatibility with standard 5V logic systems.
