The TPS61041DBVR is a low-power DC to DC boost converter in a compact 5-pin SOT-23 package. Designed for high-frequency operation, this component is ideal for generating stable output voltages up to 28V from low-voltage sources such as dual-cell NiMH/NiCd or a single-cell Li-Ion battery. It is also perfectly suited for common power conversions, like stepping up 3.3V or 5V to 12V.
A key feature is its high switching frequency of up to 1MHz, which allows for the use of small, external ceramic or tantalum capacitors, minimising the overall footprint of your power supply design. The integrated 250mA switch current limit contributes to a lower output voltage ripple and enables the use of a smaller, more compact inductor, making it excellent for space-constrained, low-power applications.
Efficiency is a major strength of this regulator. With a typical quiescent current of just 28µA and an optimised control scheme, it maintains high efficiency across the entire load current range. Additional features include an internal soft-start function to manage inrush current and a shutdown current as low as 1µA, helping to preserve battery life in portable devices.
