The regulator incorporates advanced circuitry that minimises quiescent current, drawing only 10mA typically when supplying 500mA of load current (with an input-to-output differential greater than 5V). It requires an output bypass capacitor for stability; thanks to integrated compensation, it is stable even with low ESR chip capacitors, supporting an ESR range of 0.01Ω to 5Ω.
