Texas Instruments LM75A IC Digital Temperature Sensor, SOIC

The Texas Instruments LM75A is an industry-standard digital temperature sensor that provides precise thermal monitoring for a wide range of electronic systems. It integrates a sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and communicates via a 2-wire I2C/SMBus interface, making it straightforward to interface with microcontrollers and other digital logic.

This sensor offers 9-bit digital temperature readings with an accuracy of ±2°C across a range of –25°C to 100°C and ±3°C over an extended range of –55°C to 125°C. It operates from a single supply voltage between 2.7V and 5.5V, providing excellent flexibility for different circuit designs. Communication is fast and efficient, with the 2-wire bus capable of operating at speeds up to 400 kHz.

A key feature is the configurable overtemperature shutdown output (O.S.), which can be programmed with a specific temperature limit and hysteresis. This output includes programmable fault tolerance, allowing you to define the number of consecutive error readings required before the alarm triggers, preventing false positives.

The LM75A is designed for easy system integration. It requires no external components for basic operation and includes a low-power shutdown mode to minimise energy consumption in battery-sensitive applications. With three address pins, up to eight LM75A sensors can be connected to a single I2C bus, enabling multi-point temperature monitoring in a system. Power-up defaults allow it to function as a standalone thermostat without any initial configuration.
