The MICROCHIP 8-Bit Flash Microcontroller is a high-performance enhanced flash MCU designed for demanding embedded applications. Featuring a robust RISC CPU, it offers source code compatibility with the PIC16 and PIC17 instruction sets, alongside 16-bit wide instructions and an 8-bit wide data path. Operating at up to 10 MIPs, this microcontroller ensures efficient processing for your development needs.

This 28-pin DIP device integrates a 10-bit analogue to digital converter with 5 input channels, making it highly versatile for sensor integration. It includes essential reliability features such as power-on reset (POR), power-up timer (PWRT), oscillator start-up timer (OST), and a watchdog timer (WDT) with its own on-chip RC oscillator. Programming and debugging are streamlined through single supply 5V In-Circuit Serial Programming™ (ICSP™) and In-Circuit Debug (ICD), both operating via just two pins.

Memory and Communication

The MCU addresses up to 32 Kbytes of program memory and 1.5 Kbytes of data memory. It boasts impressive endurance with 100,000 flash and 1,000,000 data EEPROM erase/write cycles, alongside a 40-year retention rate. Self-reprogrammable under software control, it supports 17 interrupt sources and a 75-instruction set. Connectivity is handled through 3 I/O ports (A, B, C), 4 timers, 2 capture/compare/PWM modules, MSSP, and an addressable USART for serial communications.

Designed with CMOS technology and a fully static architecture, it includes programmable low voltage detect (PLVD), brown-out reset (BOR), code protection, and a power-saving SLEEP mode to optimise energy consumption.
