The Osram BPW34S is a high-performance silicon PIN photodiode in a compact surface-mount device (SMD) package. Designed for precision light detection, this component features a high packing density and is especially suitable for applications operating within the 400nm to 1100nm wavelength range, with a 60° half sensitivity angle. It is engineered for efficiency and reliability in demanding electronic circuits.
This photodiode is built for modern manufacturing processes, being fully suitable for reflow soldering, which allows for fast and reliable PCB assembly. A key performance characteristic is its exceptionally short typical switching time of just 20ns, enabling it to respond rapidly to changes in light intensity for high-speed sensing applications.
Housed in a durable DIL plastic package, the BPW34S offers a radiant sensitive area of 2.65 x 2.65mm² and generates a typical photocurrent of 80µA. With a peak sensitivity at 850nm, it is optimised for infrared and visible light detection. It operates reliably across a broad temperature range from -40°C to 100°C, making it robust for various environmental conditions.
