The Seeed Studio XIAO SAMD21 Development Board is the pioneering product of the compact XIAO series. It features a powerful SAMD21 microcontroller from Microchip and is fully Arduino-compatible. With an exquisite, low-power design and a convenient built-in USB Type-C connector, it is perfectly suited for a wide range of applications, from TinyML and smart wearable devices to intricate IoT projects.

Performance and Specifications

At its heart is an ARM® Cortex®-M0+ core (SAMD21G18), capable of running at speeds up to 48 MHz. It is equipped with 32KB of SRAM and 256KB of on-board Flash memory, providing ample resources for complex code and data. Despite this power, the board maintains an incredibly small footprint, measuring just 21 x 17.5 mm – about the size of a thumb – making it ideal for space-constrained wearable devices and compact projects.

Versatile Connectivity and Development

The board offers extensive I/O options, including 11 analogue pins and 11 digital pins. For communication, it provides 1 I2C interface, 1 UART interface, and 1 SPI interface, enabling easy connection to a vast array of sensors, displays, and modules. Its breadboard-friendly SMD design, with no components on the back, allows for simple prototyping and integration into circuits.

Software and Compatibility

Development is straightforward and flexible. The XIAO SAMD21 is natively compatible with the Arduino IDE software, allowing you to leverage a familiar ecosystem of libraries and examples. It also supports MicroPython and CircuitPython, offering alternative development paths for rapid prototyping and scripting.
