Designed with a 2Kb x 8 configuration, it offers RAM-like clock access, simplifying system integration. The embedded button cell has sufficient capacity and storage life to maintain data and clock functionality for an accumulated period of at least 10 years in the absence of power, across the full operating temperature range. It fits easily into many ROM, EPROM, and EEPROM sockets, providing the non-volatility of PROMs without any special WRITE timing requirements or limitations on the number of writes.
