Whadda BrightDot ESP32 Wearable Development Board

The Whadda WMW101 BrightDot is an ESP32-based development board that is fully Arduino® compatible, designed specifically for creating innovative wearable technology. Compact and incredibly versatile, its ultra-thin PCB features no sharp edges, making it perfectly safe and comfortable for integration into clothing and accessories. With onboard Bluetooth V4.2 and 802.11b/g/n WiFi, it offers modern wireless connectivity for a wide range of interactive projects.

The board includes eight sewable pads, four of which are capacitive touch-enabled, allowing for intuitive fabric-based control interfaces. It is equipped with multiple sensors including a hall effect sensor and a temperature sensor, plus a low-power analogue pre-amplifier for sound or signal input. A variety of communication interfaces such as SPI, I2S, I2C, and UART provide extensive flexibility for connecting additional components.

Power management is a key feature, with an integrated 450mA LiPo battery charger for cordless operation and a deep sleep mode to significantly extend battery life during inactive periods. The board also features a dedicated reset button and an orange status LED. It is fully compatible with the entire BrightDot range of wearable LED boards, enabling you to build anything from illuminated fashion to interactive educational kits.

Powered by an ESP32 Xtensa dual-core CPU running at 240MHz, it delivers ample processing power for complex tasks. Its GPIO pins are highly configurable, allowing LED PWM, UART, I2C, I2S, and general-purpose SPI functions to be assigned as needed, offering unparalleled adaptability for makers, educators, and prototyping professionals.
