Adjustable Positive Voltage Regulator, 35V Input, 1.2V-33V, 3A, TO-220-3

This TEXAS INSTRUMENTS Adjustable Positive Linear Voltage Regulator is a 3-terminal device capable of supplying in excess of 3A over an output range of 1.2V to 33V. Exceptionally easy to use, it requires only two external resistors to set the output voltage, making it highly versatile for various power management applications.

Both line and load regulation are comparable to discrete designs, offering higher performance than fixed regulators. It includes comprehensive overload protection, such as current limit, thermal overload protection, and safe area protection. Notably, all overload protection circuitry remains fully functional even if the adjustment terminal is accidentally disconnected, ensuring robust operational safety.

Design and Protection Features

Typically, no capacitors are needed unless the device is situated more than 6 inches from the input filter capacitors, in which case an input bypass is required. An output capacitor can be added to improve transient response, while bypassing the adjustment pin increases the regulator's ripple rejection. The output is short-circuit protected, and the current limit remains constant with temperature. It also features thermal regulation and has been P+ Product enhancement tested. Furthermore, it is a green product with no Sb/Br (antimony/bromine) content.

Housed in a TO-220-3 package for through-hole mounting, the regulator has dimensions of 43 mm in height, 33 mm in width, and 15 mm in depth, with a weight of just 1.1 grams. It operates reliably within a temperature range of -40°C to 125°C.
