The Airpax 6700 Series Thermal Switch is a high-performance, positive snap-action bimetallic thermostat, engineered for accurate, reliable sensing and switching in demanding thermal management applications. Its sub-miniature, single-pole single-throw design provides a fast, positive response with excellent repeatability, ensuring consistent operation across its lifecycle.

This normally closed (NC) thermal switch is rated to a precise switching temperature of 80°C, with a reset temperature of 55°C. It offers versatile switching capabilities, handling loads up to 0.5A at 48VDC, and is capable of reliable low-level switching down to 0.001A–0.020A at 5VDC for up to 100,000 cycles, making it suitable for both power and signal circuits.

Design and Construction

Housed in a TO-220 / Y-220 international electronic package, the switch is ideal for surface and air sensing on crowded printed circuit boards (PCBs) and heat sinks. Thermal conductivity is efficiently managed through its terminals and mounting bracket. It features gold-plated contacts for enhanced reliability and longevity, supporting up to 100,000 life cycles at maximum gold contact amperage.

The device is offered with a choice of mounting brackets: a standard nickel-plated copper bracket or a high-pressure laminated plastic 'P' bracket option, which carries VDE approval for added safety compliance in relevant applications.
