The Arduino Portenta H7 is a powerful development board designed for advanced computing and real-time applications. At its core is the dual-core STM32H747 processor from STMicroelectronics, featuring a Cortex-M7 running at 480MHz and a Cortex-M4 running at 240MHz. These two asymmetrical cores can simultaneously execute high-level code such as protocol stacks, machine learning, or interpreted languages like MicroPython and JavaScript, alongside low-level real-time tasks. The cores communicate via a remote procedure call mechanism, allowing seamless function calls across processors.
The on-board wireless module supports both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, including Bluetooth Classic and BLE. The Portenta H7 follows the Arduino MKR form factor but is enhanced with the Portenta family's 80-pin high-density connector. It includes 8MB SDRAM, 16MB NOR flash, a 10/100 Ethernet PHY, USB High-Speed, NXP SE050C2 crypto chip, and a DisplayPort over USB-C interface. The board also features a ceramic antenna for wireless communication.
