FTDI FT232HL high-speed USB to multipurpose UART/FIFO IC. Features MPSSE for JTAG, SPI, I²C. 48-pin LQFP package.
The FTDI FT232HL-REEL is a versatile, single-channel integrated circuit providing a high-speed bridge between USB and various multipurpose serial or parallel interfaces. It handles the entire USB protocol on-chip, eliminating the need for complex USB-specific firmware programming, which significantly simplifies design and development.
Featuring a Multi-Protocol Synchronous Serial Engine (MPSSE), it effortlessly manages synchronous serial protocols such as USB to JTAG, I²C, SPI (Master), and bit-bang modes. It also supports the proprietary half-duplex FT1248 interface with a configurable data bus width (1, 2, 4, or 8 bits). For asynchronous communication, it offers a full-featured UART interface with hardware handshaking and modem control signals.
Key Performance Features
This IC is supplied in a compact 48-pin LQFP package and is designed for robust operation in commercial and industrial environments, with an extended operating temperature range. FTDI’s royalty-free Virtual COM Port (VCP) and Direct (D2XX) drivers are available, removing the requirement for custom USB driver development in most applications.
