Intersil CMOS RC Timer SOIC-8 1MHz

The Intersil CMOS RC Timer SOIC-8 1MHz is a CMOS timer IC with a maximum frequency of 1MHz and an operating voltage range of 2V to 18V. It provides precise timing control in both monostable (one-shot) and astable (oscillator) modes.

Overview

This timer is designed as a direct replacement for standard SE/NE 555/6 and 355 timer ICs. Its low supply current supports power efficiency across a range of designs. Very low THRESHOLD, TRIGGER, and RESET currents mean the CONTROL VOLTAGE pin does not need to be decoupled for stable operation. The device also avoids supply current crowbarring during output transitions, which helps reduce noise.

Key Features

• CMOS construction for improved performance
• Direct replacement for SE/NE 555/6 and 355 timers
• Wide operating voltage range from 2V to 18V
• Maximum frequency of 1MHz
• Low supply current
• Very low THRESHOLD, TRIGGER, and RESET currents
• No supply current crowbarring during output transitions
• Triggers and resets on falling edges

Timing Operation

In monostable mode, the output pulse width is set by a single external resistor and capacitor. In astable mode, the free-running frequency and duty cycle are controlled by two external resistors and one capacitor. The output buffer can source and sink sufficient current to drive TTL loads directly, or provide minimal offset voltages for driving CMOS loads. Higher impedance timing elements allow long RC time constants, supporting timing applications from microseconds to hours.

Dimensions

Dimensions (W x D x H): 3.3 x 1.5 x 4.3. Weight: 10 gm.

The Intersil CMOS RC Timer SOIC-8 1MHz suits designers who require a timing IC with direct replacement functionality for 555-type timers in monostable and astable circuits.
