The INTERSIL SMD Volt Converter is a monolithic CMOS charge pump voltage converter supplied in an 8-lead NSOIC package. Delivering unique performance for power supply circuits, this device efficiently performs supply voltage conversions from positive to negative. It operates across an input range of 1.5V to 10V, resulting in complementary output voltages of -1.5V to -10V, requiring only two non-critical external capacitors for charge pump and reservoir functions.
This versatile converter can also be connected to function as a voltage doubler, generating output voltages up to 18.6V with a 10V input. It features an on-chip series DC supply regulator, an RC oscillator, a voltage level translator, and four output power MOS switches. A unique logic element senses the most negative voltage in the device, ensuring output N-channel switch source substrate junctions are not forward biased for guaranteed latch-up free operation.
