Low-power MCP9700T-E/TT analogue temperature sensor IC in SOT-23 package. ±4°C accuracy, wide voltage range, fits many designs.
The MCP9700T-E/TT from MICROCHIP is a low-power, linear active thermistor integrated circuit, supplied in a compact 3-pin SOT-23 package. It functions as an analogue temperature sensor, converting ambient temperature into a precise analogue voltage output. This sensor is engineered for cost-sensitive applications and delivers an accuracy of ±4°C within a sensing range of 0°C to 70°C, while drawing a typical operating current of just 6µA to preserve battery life in portable devices.
Designed for simplicity, the MCP9700 eliminates the need for additional signal conditioning circuits and the development overhead associated with traditional thermistor biasing networks. The voltage output pin (VOUT) can be connected directly to the analogue-to-digital converter (ADC) input of a microcontroller, streamlining your design and reducing component count. The device is also immune to the effects of parasitic capacitance and is optimised to drive large capacitive loads, which offers significant flexibility in PCB layout and allows the sensor to be remotely located from the main control unit.
This sensor supports a wide operating voltage range from 2.3V to 5.5V and provides a temperature coefficient of 10.0mV/°C (typical). It can measure temperatures across an extended range from -40°C to 125°C. Featuring a sensor output voltage of 500mV at 0°C, this single-channel device is AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive applications, making it a versatile choice for a variety of temperature monitoring tasks.
