Microchip stand-alone 10/100 Ethernet Controller with SPI/parallel interface, 44-QFN package, hardware security engines & IEEE 802.3 compliance.
This stand-alone Fast Ethernet Controller from Microchip features an industry-standard Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) or a flexible parallel interface. It is designed to serve as an Ethernet network interface for any microcontroller equipped with SPI or a standard parallel port.
Meeting all IEEE 802.3 specifications applicable to 10Base-T and 100Base-TX Ethernet, this controller includes optional clauses such as auto-negotiation. It incorporates multiple packet filtering schemes to limit incoming packets and provides an internal, 16-bit wide DMA for fast data throughput. Additionally, it supports hardware IP checksum calculations. For applications requiring the security and authentication features of SSL, TLS, and other cryptography-related protocols, a block of hardware security acceleration engines is provided.
