The MICROCHIP 24C02 is a 2Kbit I²C serial Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory (EEPROM) providing dependable non-volatile storage. Operating within a voltage range of 4.5V to 5.5V, this device is organized as a single block of 256 x 8-bit memory, ensuring efficient data management through its 2-wire serial interface.
Designed with low-power CMOS technology, this EEPROM features a low-current design that permits operation with maximum standby and active currents of only 5μA and 1mA respectively. It offers a page write capability for up to 16 bytes of data and achieves fast write cycle times of just 1ms for both byte and page writes. Functional address lines enable the connection of up to eight devices on the same bus, allowing for up to 16kB of contiguous EEPROM memory.
Engineered for robust performance, the device incorporates Schmitt trigger inputs for effective noise suppression and output slope control to eliminate ground bounce. It includes a self-timed erase/write cycle and a hardware write-protect feature for the upper half of the array. The component also provides ESD protection greater than 4000V, supporting more than 1 million erase/write cycles and data retention exceeding 200 years.
