The Microchip 8-Bit Flash Microcontroller is an enhanced CMOS device offering a high-performance RISC CPU architecture. It features 128 bytes of EEPROM data memory with a retention span of over 40 years, ensuring reliable long-term data storage. The device is self-reprogrammable under software control and supports In-Circuit Serial Programming (ICSP) via just two pins, simplifying development and field updates.

This versatile microcontroller includes two comparators and a 5-channel, 10-bit Analogue-to-Digital (A/D) converter for precise sensor integration. Its synchronous serial port can be configured as either a 3-wire Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) or a 2-wire Inter-Integrated Circuit (I²C) bus, alongside a Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (USART) for flexible communication options.

Designed for efficiency, it incorporates a Watchdog Timer (WDT) with its own on-chip RC oscillator, programmable code protection, a power-saving sleep mode, and low-power consumption. With a 13-bit program counter, it addresses an 8K word x 14-bit program memory space. The microcontroller operates at a maximum frequency of 20MHz within a supply voltage range of 4V to 5.5V, making it suitable for demanding environments.
