The Microchip MCP4822-E/SN is a dual channel, 12-bit voltage output Digital to Analogue Converter (DAC) with an internal voltage reference, housed in an 8-pin NSOIC package. This device offers high accuracy and low noise performance, making it an excellent choice for precision applications.
Key features include a high precision internal reference voltage (2.048V), configurable full-scale range of either 2.048V or 4.096V via a gain selection bit, and individual channel shutdown for power savings. The shutdown mode turns off most internal circuits and presents a known high resistance output (500kΩ typical).
The DAC utilises a resistive string architecture, providing low DNL error, low ratio metric temperature coefficient, and fast settling time. It supports a rail-to-rail output, SPI interface with 20MHz clock, simultaneous latching of dual DACs, and selectable unity or 2x gain. The device operates from a single supply of 2.7V to 5.5V and across an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
