The NEXPERIA Octal Transparent D Latch is a high-performance logic device featuring 3-state outputs, designed for versatile applications in industrial and consumer electronics. It features Latch Enable (LE) and Output Enable (OE) inputs for precise control. When LE is high, data at the inputs enters the latches, making them transparent so the output changes each time its corresponding D-input changes. When LE is low, the latches store the information that was present at the inputs a set-up time preceding the high-to-low transition of LE.
A high on the OE input causes the outputs to assume a high-impedance OFF-state. The operation of the OE input does not affect the state of the latches themselves. The device includes clamp diodes on the inputs, enabling the use of current limiting resistors to interface inputs to voltages in excess of VCC.
With inputs and outputs positioned on opposite sides of the package, this D latch allows for easy interface with microprocessors and microcomputers. It is particularly useful as an input or output port, featuring 3-state non-inverting outputs ideal for bus-oriented applications. The TTL input level complies with JEDEC standard No. 7A.
