The NXP CAN Interface IC provides a reliable interface between a CAN protocol controller and the physical bus. Engineered for high-speed automotive applications, it delivers differential transmit capability to the bus and differential receive capability to the CAN controller, supporting data rates up to 1 Mbaud.
Fully compatible with the ISO 11898 standard, this device ensures robust performance in demanding environments. Bus lines are protected against automotive transients, while a differential receiver with a wide common-mode range offers high immunity against electromagnetic interference (EMI). Additionally, slope control functionality helps to reduce Radio Frequency Interference (RFI).
Designed for safety and efficiency, the IC features thermal protection and a low-current standby mode. It is short-circuit proof to both battery and ground, ensuring durability. An unpowered node will not disturb the bus lines, and the system supports connections for at least 110 nodes. Housed in an 8-pin SOIC package, it operates reliably across a temperature range from -40°C to 125°C, with a supply voltage range of 4.5V to 5.5V.
