NXP LM75BDP,118 Digital Temperature Sensor IC TSSOP 8-Pin

The NXP LM75BDP,118 Digital Temperature Sensor IC is a highly integrated digital temperature sensor and thermal watchdog with 0.125°C resolution from an 11-bit ADC.

Overview

The device converts temperature to a digital signal using an on-chip band gap sensor and Sigma-Delta analogue-to-digital conversion. It provides accurate monitoring with a programmable over temperature detection output, making it suitable for system thermal management.

The device includes a configuration register (Conf) for setting operational parameters such as device and OS operation modes, OS polarity, and fault queue. A temperature register (Temp) stores the digital temperature reading, while set-point registers (Tos and Thyst) allow custom over temperature shutdown and hysteresis limits to be defined. Communication with a host controller is handled via a standard 2-wire serial I²C-bus interface.

An open-drain output (OS) activates when the programmed temperature threshold is exceeded, providing an immediate alarm function. Three selectable logic address pins allow up to eight devices to be connected on the same I²C bus without address conflicts, which simplifies multi-zone temperature monitoring.

Key Features

• I²C-bus Interface: Supports connection of up to eight devices on the same bus.
• Frequency Range: Operates from 20 Hz to 400 kHz and includes a bus fault time-out to prevent bus hang-ups.
• High Resolution: An 11-bit ADC provides a temperature resolution of 0.125°C.
• Programmable Set Points: User-definable temperature threshold and hysteresis limits.
• Low Power: Supply current is 1.0 μA in shutdown mode.
• Stand-alone Operation: Can function as an independent thermostat immediately at power-up.
• Robust Design: Latch-up testing exceeds 100 mA per JEDEC standard JESD78.
• Digital Output: Provides a direct digital readout via I²C or SMBus interface.

Choose the NXP LM75BDP,118 Digital Temperature Sensor IC when you need a compact, digital temperature monitoring solution in a TSSOP 8-pin package for multi-zone thermal management applications.
