This regulator incorporates internal current limiting, thermal shutdown, and safe area compensation, making it essentially blow-out proof. It also features internal thermal overload protection, short-circuit current limiting (constant with temperature), and output transistor safe area compensation. Its floating operation capability allows for use in high voltage applications, and it eliminates the need to stock multiple fixed voltage regulators.
