PIMORONI Inky Impression 4 inch 7 Colour eInk Display HAT

The PIMORONI Inky Impression HAT brings a vibrant, high-resolution ePaper display to your Raspberry Pi projects. Utilising the innovative E Ink Gallery Palette™ ePaper technology, this 4-inch display is capable of showing seven distinct colours with exceptional clarity. Unlike traditional LCD screens, it uses electrophoresis to move coloured particles within the display. These particles reflect ambient light, making the screen easily readable even under bright sunlight or harsh lighting conditions, with ultra-wide viewing angles ensuring visibility from almost any position.

This display is perfect for projects where power efficiency and readability are paramount. It consumes ultra-low power, only drawing current when the image is being refreshed. A full screen update takes approximately 30 seconds, making the Inky Impression ideally suited for applications that don't require constant, rapid updates, such as information dashboards, digital signage, weather stations, or status displays.

The HAT is supplied fully assembled, requiring no soldering, and comes with a 40-pin extension header to provide extra height for clearance over other components on your Raspberry Pi. It features four conveniently side-mounted buttons for user input and has I2C pins broken out for easy connection of additional sensors or breakout boards. A comprehensive Python library with example code is available online to help you get started quickly and integrate the display into your projects with ease.

Important Handling Note: The Inky Impression display is constructed with a glass substrate and is fragile. Always handle with care, gripping by the edges of the PCB. Avoid dropping the unit or applying pressure directly to the screen surface, as this can crack the glass.
