PIMORI LiPo Shim Battery Power Supply Board for Raspberry Pi

The PIMORONI LiPo Shim is a compact, intelligent power supply board designed specifically for powering mobile Raspberry Pi projects. When connecting to a permanent mains supply is impossible or impractical, this shim provides a reliable and efficient portable power solution.

Built around the high-performance TPS61232 step-up boost converter from Texas Instruments, the board boasts an impressive efficiency of up to 96%. This ensures maximum runtime from your connected LiPo or Li-ion battery, minimising energy waste as heat.

The board sits as low as possible on the Raspberry Pi, maintaining a slim profile ideal for embedded applications. It connects via a standard 2-pole JST connector, compatible with most common single-cell batteries. Clear LED indicators show power status and provide a visual warning when the battery charge is low.

A key protective feature is the automatic shutdown at 3V, which safeguards your battery from being drained to a damagingly low level. The board is capable of supplying a robust up to 1.5A of continuous current, sufficient for many Pi projects with attached peripherals.

For installation, you have two choices: it can be soldered directly onto the Raspberry Pi's GPIO pins for a permanent, low-profile fit, or attached via the supplied 2x4 female header for a non-permanent, removable connection. Additional VBAT+, GND, and EN breakout pins are provided for advanced users who wish to integrate the power management into their own circuits.

Please Note: This board is a power supply and does not include battery charging circuitry. A separate LiPo charger is required to recharge your batteries. The Raspberry Pi and battery are for illustrative purposes and are not included in the kit.
