The SB COMPONENTS Air Monitoring HAT is an open-source environmental sensor board designed for the Raspberry Pi. It empowers developers, hobbyists, and educators to monitor air quality in detail by providing real-time data on particulate matter levels. The heart of the board is a powerful PMSA003 digital sensor, which accurately detects and reports concentrations of fine suspended particles (PM1.0, PM2.5, and PM10) per unit volume of air. This data is crucial for environmental monitoring projects, indoor air quality assessments, and health-conscious applications.
A key feature is the integrated 0.91-inch OLED display, which allows for at-a-glance reading of sensor data without needing a separate monitor. The HAT connects seamlessly via the standard 40-pin GPIO interface, ensuring compatibility with all Raspberry Pi models. Communication is handled through a UART interface, and the board operates on a 5V DC power supply, drawing power directly from the Pi.
Constructed with a robust digital sensor, the HAT offers reliable performance across a measuring range of 0.3 to 10.0 micrometres (µm), categorised into specific bins for precise analysis. It is built to operate in a wide range of conditions, with an operating temperature range of 10°C to 60°C and a humidity range of 0% to 99%.
