Sika Sikaflex 591 Marine Boat Multi-Purpose Hybrid Sealant - Black
IMO-approved Sika Sikaflex 591 marine sealant. Solvent-free, highly elastic for durable bonding & sealing on boats. Exceeds EH&S standards.
The Sika Sikaflex 591 is a premium, multi-purpose hybrid sealant engineered specifically for the demanding marine environment. Based on advanced Silane Terminated Polymer (STP) technology, it delivers exceptional elasticity, durability, and long-term performance against harsh maritime weathering conditions, including constant UV exposure, saltwater immersion, and extreme temperature fluctuations.
This sealant is designed for elastic, vibration-resistant joint sealing and performs a wide variety of interior and exterior bonding and sealing applications common in boat building and repair. It adheres strongly to a broad range of substrates used in the marine industry, such as GRP, wood, metals, and painted surfaces, creating a durable, watertight seal that moves with the vessel.
A significant advantage of Sikaflex 591 is its approval to meet the low spread of flame requirements (FTP Code Part 5) as set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), making it a safe choice for critical applications. It also exceeds common environmental and health and safety (EH&S) standards, being formulated without isocyanates, solvents, PVC, phthalates, or tin catalysts, which contributes to a safer working environment and reduced ecological impact.
The product offers excellent weathering stability and maintains its flexibility over time, preventing cracks and leaks. It features very good processing and tooling characteristics, allowing for smooth application and a professional finish. Supplied in a convenient cartridge for easy dispensing with a standard caulking gun. Please note, this sealant is not recommended for use with teak wood or plastics prone to stress cracking, such as PMMA or PC.
