MicroMod Asset Tracking Carrier Board

The MicroMod Asset Tracking Carrier Board from SparkFun Electronics is a versatile hardware solution for monitoring and tracking the precise location of valuable assets. Designed for secure and reliable operation, it provides robust LTE-M and NB-IoT communication to the cloud, ensuring your tracking data is always transmitted effectively. At its core is a u-blox SARA-R510M8S cellular module, optimised for low-power, wide-area network connectivity, paired with an integrated u-blox M8 GNSS receiver for high-accuracy global positioning.

To deliver comprehensive tracking capabilities, the board features a sophisticated ICM-20948 Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). This sensor provides 9-Degree of Freedom movement detection, capturing detailed motion data such as acceleration, rotation, and orientation for more nuanced asset monitoring. An SPH0641 digital microphone is also included, enabling the board to capture ambient audio where required.

For practical deployment, the carrier board includes a Nano SIM card slot, which comes pre-populated with a Hologram eUICC SIM card for out-of-the-box connectivity. Data logging is facilitated via a MicroSD card slot, allowing for local storage of tracking information. Flexible power options are provided through a USB-C port or a LiPo battery connection, supported by a built-in charging circuit and fuel gauge to manage battery life efficiently. The board features SMA antenna connections for both the LTE and GNSS systems, ensuring optimal signal reception.
